Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is making changes to accommodate the growing number of Chinese travelers visiting their hotels worldwide.
The changes primarily impact the dining service, and will be phased in through the rest of this year. The chain is adding more traditional Chinese dishes to their menus and plans to begin offering traditional Chinese serving methods.
Traditional Chinese breakfast congee will be added to buffet menus, and a variety of loose leaf teas will be added in both the dining room and for in-room service.
The Fairmont will also be equipped to provide the customary Chinese 7 to 12-course meal that incorporates several Chinese traditions: hot and cold towels will be offered before and after meals, chopsticks will be available and family-style dining will be an option.
Fairmont’s announcement comes partially in response to the statistics that show that nearly 77 million Chinese travelers will be guests overseas this year alone.
