Hilton Bumps Up Wi-Fi Speeds for a Fee at Some Hotels

Hilton announced that its Wi-Fi speeds are about to get faster. For a new fee, guests can select the new Wi-Fi tier at Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Home 2 Suites and Homewood Suites.

Hilton said the faster Wi-Fi option would begin service in the next two months with all hotels in the Hilton brand receiving the upgrade by the end of the year. The industry giant is introducing the feature in hopes of catering to guests who want faster Wi-Fi speeds while still keeping a free Wi-Fi option.

While the plan is straightforward, the pricing, however, will vary depending on the location. In most cases, guests will be charged $3.95 to use the faster Wi-Fi on up to three devices.

The hotel brand is not alone in offering tiered pricing for Wi-Fi. Marriott also offers faster speeds for a fee. Hilton’s announcement comes as other hotels have begun relaxing their Wi-Fi fee policies. Loews Hotels has started free Wi-Fi service in all guests rooms and InterContinental Hotels Group is lending Rewards Club members free Wi-Fi during their stays.
