Hotels are taking advantage of the growing interest in craft beers by working with local breweries to create their own brews.
In fact, several luxury hotels are offering their own labels. The Four Seasons Philadelphia; The Fairmont San Francisco; Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles; and Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar in San Diego are all catching on. They’re either unveiling their own brews in cooperation with local micro-brews or working to add craft beers to their portfolios.
Sales of craft beers increased 13 percent between 2010 and 2011.
The beers offer another way for hotel guests to make memories. “A way for hotels in a local market to distinguish themselves is to create experiences,” says Bjorn Hansen of the New York University Hospitality School.
Plus, the novelty beers have created an attraction that not only lures guests in, but attracts locals as well. ”It energized our lobby and brought more guests morning, noon and night,” says Sheraton executive Hoyt Harper.
