Australian billionaire James Packer has announced plans to develop a massive luxury property, which will include a hotel and casino. The project is being developed for Barangaroo, in Sydney, a city located on Australia’s tourist-favorite south-eastern coast. Local government official Barry O’Farrell stoked anticipation with his recent announcement that the VIP-only high rollers casino and hotel has the green light.
Plans for the property’s development include a $1 billion luxury hotel which will comprise 350 rooms, twenty percent of which will be dedicated to massive VIP suites. The hotel will undoubtedly be a hit with international holidaymakers, particularly those from the nearby Asian market, attracted to the casino’s 150 invite-only gaming tables. The project will also see the development of 75 luxury apartments, high-end retail shops, conference facilities, a pool and a spa. Sources linked to the project indicated they were aiming for six-star accreditation, rather than just five, with plans for thoughtful details like Mandarin-speaking staff able to cater to Chinese guests.
At the moment the project is slated for completion in November 2019. Above, an artist’s impression of the finished development.
