LEED-Certified SOMA Luxury Hotel to be Built in SF

As San Francisco’s first full-service luxury hotel project since 2008, SOMA will be welcomed to the area with open arms. The 15-story hotel will begin construction in 2014 and was purchased from Blackrock Real Estate and Strada Investment Group.

The new owners plan to build a 350-unit structure featuring residential condos and apartments and the building is scheduled to open in late 2016. The four-star branded lifestyle hotel will be built to LEED-Gold standards, will boast 23,000 square feet and will be constructed on Channel Street with proximity to AT&T Park.

“’Downtown San Francisco is one of the most difficult cities for new construction, due to scarcity of land and high barriers to new construction,” said Will Gibbs, senior vice president, SOMA Hotel. “This will be the first four-star, new-build hotel in the city’s urban core since 2008. The South of Market district is the city’s most dynamic location and there is a minimal presence of hotels there.’” – The Registry
