The Ritz-Carlton New York, situated on the edge of the city’s beautiful Central Park, is set to open its new restaurant, Auden Bistro & Bar, a mere nine months after it closed the celebrity-chef run BLT Market. True to its name, the Auden Bistro & Bar will feature traditional bistro cuisine, with a very modern emphasis placed on sustainable seafood and locally grown ingredients.
Chef Mark Arnao, who previously worked at the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott complex in downtown Los Angeles, told USA Today: “We’ll have great food with simple ingredients – nothing overly complicated. What we”re trying to do with the menu is keep it very reader friendly, try to make it so that people understand it. There’s nothing worse when you get to the restaurant and have to ask, ‘What’s that word?’ So it will be nice and simple. We’ll make beef taste like beef and chicken taste like chicken.” The menu will change seasonally as a reflection of the restaurant’s new sustainable approach to ingredients.
And at the Ritz-Carlton hotel, it’s not just the cuisine that has changed – famed designers The Rockwell Group were tapped to revamp the look of the restaurant as well. The designers set out to create the ambiance of an elegant private townhouse, with leather banquettes, natural woods and white porcelain dishes featured. The Auden will open in early October, and will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
