Ritz-Carlton Takes Top Honors for Luxury Hotels


Ritz-Carlton has topped J.D. Power and Associates’ North American Hotel Satisfaction Study for the third year in a row.

The 16th annual survey measures hotel satisfaction in several segments of the market, including budget hotels and luxury accommodations. Hotels were gauged on several metrics including check-in/check-out, food and beverage, facilities and costs and fees.

Other hoteliers that received high marks were Omni Hotels and Suites and Hilton Garden Inn.

One discouraging sign for the industry is that overall satisfaction across the board has dropped. Experts cite a few reasons for this, including higher rates and fees for Wi-Fi access.

Travelers who booked their rooms through third parties like online travel agencies also tended to be less satisfied; J.D. Power says the best way to avoid getting surprised with hidden fees after booking through a third party is to call the hotel directly and find out about surcharges.
