Casino magnate Steve Wynn purchased the Ritz-Carlton’s 14-roomed duplex penthouse in one of New York City’s largest real sales this year, with city records clearly stating that Wynn’s purchase was the second-highest purchase price paid for a NYC apartment in 2012.
Wynn’s penthouse is located in the heart of Manhattan’s most sophisticated and luxurious neighbourhood at 50 Central Park South. Residences in this area can sell for anywhere between $25 million to $100 million.
Occupying the 30th and 31st floors of the Ritz-Carleton, the 10,882 square foot residence includes an 800 foot terrace. Making the penthouse so desirable in the real estate market along with its stunning location is the view: 26 windows overlook Central Park, and most of Manhattan can be viewed from the 31st floor.
The spacious apartment, which includes 5 bedrooms, a large dining room, kitchen, living room, library and media room, was previously owned by Christopher Jeffries, who purchased the property in 2002 for $22 million. Due to a limited liability company taking care of the real estate transaction, little was known about the identity of the purchaser until recently when a Capital New York reporter discovered it was Wynn. Wynn coincidentally also spoke to the media, stating that he bought a great apartment in NYC and that he would be moving into the new residence some time during the fall season.
