The Diamond Ball
Veteran’s Day is a time to honor those who’ve served our country and to reflect on our responsibilities as Americans. That is why we chose this important day for our charity event, The Diamond Ball.
The Diamond Ball, to be held Saturday, November 9, is an evening of inspiration committed to saving lives. It’s common we hear of people saving the lives of animals. The mission of The Diamond Ball is to raise funds and awareness for animal charities that save lives. The emotional ties that connect us to the animals we love, can often times be the difference of hope in our lives. The beneficiaries of this year’s gala are the Wounded Veteran Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and Friends of Orange County’s Homeless Pets (FOCHP).
This extraordinary evening to honor our veterans and the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel charity partners will be a night to remember. Tickets are $250 per person. The evening includes a silent and live auction, and a four-course dinner presented by Executive Chef Pedro Contreras. The evening also includes The Diamond Drop Extravaganza, an opportunity where guests can donate gems and jewelry in support of the cause.
The Diamond Ball takes our love for supporting animal-related causes and extends our responsibility beyond the day-to-day hotel operations by supporting one of the many meaningful causes that our community and neighbors are passionate about.
Canine Companions for Independence helps veterans put their lives back together after being injured by providing assistance dogs that play an integral role in the veterans ability to regain independence. Friends of Orange County Homeless Pets helps make homeless and unwanted pets more adoptable and provides them with a forever family.

What is the most unique request you’ve ever received from a guest? How did you go about fulfilling it?
A guest staying on The Ritz-Carlton Club Level was viewing the art exhibit that was on display in The Club Lounge. The guest was surprised to see that one of the paintings was of the street in Laguna Beach that she used to live on. She immediately fell in love with the painting and wanted to purchase it to display in her home. Unfortunately, the painting was part of a private collection and was for display only. The Club Concierge reached out to the gallery owner to see if a Giclée could be made for the guest. The paintings owner was touched, as the painting was also one of her favorites as it had been done by her husband who had passed away many years earlier. She graciously allowed for a print to be made and the Club Concierge presented it to the guest. The guest was surprised and delighted at how the Club Concierge went above and beyond to fulfill her request.
The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel features rotating art exhibits in The Club Lounge. Currently, the resort is offering a unique and rare opportunity for guests staying on The Club Level to experience an exclusive showing of Henri Matisse: Papier Coupes. Twelve original stone lithographs are featured and are the only Matisse Cut-Outs on display in the U.S. The other venue for viewing any of the Cut-Outs is the Tate Modern in London which is featuring the largest retrospective ever assembled through September 2014. The collection can be viewed in The Club Lounge through February 10, 2014.
To view the exhibit, guests can book a Club Level guestroom or the Treat You package which includes Club Level accommodations and a complimentary night when you stay four nights. Club Level accommodations can be booked at www.ritzcarlton.com/lagunaclub.
