Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. revealed its W Hotels brand will be appearing in the Netherlands by fall of 2015. The hotel chain will open the W Amsterdam on the Dam Square in the heart of the city.

Michael Wale, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East explained how Amsterdam’s vibrancy and energy along with its rich cultural offerings made it the ideal spot to launch the W brand in the Netherlands.

W Amsterdam will consist of 169 guestrooms, including 10 suites and one Presidential type suite called the Extreme Wow Suite. Check-in will occur on the rooftop of the hotel so that guests can grab their room keys and maybe a cocktail in the process at the W Living Room. The hotel will also feature a rooftop restaurant and destination bar with views over Dam Square to be used by both guests and locals.

Other amenities at the W Amsterdam will include meeting and event space, a fitness center, a 24-hour business center, a full calendar of events and the W brand’s classic Whatever/Whenever® service.

The hotel space will set up in a former Telephone Exchange building in Dam Square. The historic building constructed according to the Amsterdam School style of architecture will receive the design work of OFFICE WINHOV of Amsterdam and Canada’s BK Architecture.

The W Hotels brand has already appeared in Istanbul, St. Petersburg, London, Barcelona, Paris and Verbier with much success. W Amsterdam makes the seventh W Hotel on the continent. W Hotels features 45 properties around the world.
