Hollywood Goes to Hawai`i With the Waimea Ocean Film Festival at the Four Seasons Hualalai

As the film industry kicks into high gear with awards like the Golden Globes and the Oscars, the focus in the new year is firmly on the silver screen. If you’re looking to get into Hollywood spirit but you don’t to brave the swarms of paparazzi in Los Angeles (smart thinking), then consider making your next trip to Hualalai. Though Hawai`i may seem like the diametric opposite of the jammed freeways and smog of LA, it’s about to welcome the Waimea Ocean Film Festival with the help of the Four Seasons Hualalai.

From January 7th to 11th, the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai luxury resort will welcome more than 40 films, with appearances from directors and special guests. The festival will also have breakfast talks, Q&As, receptions, art exhibits and activities. Set to screen are flicks like film-fest favorite Family of the Wa’a, the epic surfing film Chasing the Swell and Blue Sway, made in collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney using footage filmed on location in Tahiti.

Robert Whitfield, the regional vice president and general manager of Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, told us; “This is a spectacular way to begin the New Year, with a celebration of cinema and culture, right here in Hawaii. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Waimea Ocean Film Festival and are excited to co-host this fine event again.”

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is located at 72-100 Kaupulehu Dr, Hōlualoa, HI 96725. For more information call (808) 325-8000 or visit their website. For more information on the Waimea Ocean Film Festival, please visit their website. Photos courtesy of the Four Seasons.
